Photoshoots
Dec 24th
Two weeks ago there were no less than three photoshoots on Daybroke’s agenda, two of them took place on Sunday.
Early in the morning we head for Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte, a huge industrial estate where large vast areas are still undeveloped. At least… that’s what we hope. A short visit shows plenty of new industry have been added. And apart from that, it’s raining cats and dogs! More >
Daybroke & LEFT @ Nirwana
Nov 20th
Saturday was the big day; our first show as support act for LEFT at one of The Netherlands’ most lived venues: OJC Nirwana in Lierop, where the famous Nirwana’s Garden Party takes place each year, an event at which I have climbed the stage with Brotherhood Foundation once.
Kindly as always, we were welcomed by programmer Koert and associates and the technicians of the venue. More >
From South Africa to California…
Oct 19th
And the third Popronde show is history! Last Saturday was a great night at The Fiddler in The Hague. A crowded, beautiful grand cafe… We have met some nice people from all over the world; from South Africa to California. Positive response and good conversations. Thanks everyone!
3VOOR12′s Susanne Kooijman wrote a review of our Popronde show in The Hague:
After Florian Wolff’s mellow tunes, the fresh band Daybroke from Tilburg is to enter Fiddler’s stage. A bigger contrast almost wouldn’t be possible. The four young men serve a healthy dose of rock with electro sounds to the audience. Their songs have already been well-received by a lot of people. Even producer Clif Norrell (Nirvana, No Doubt) has expressed his approval of their sound. Daybroke’s debut album will be released around February 2010. Directly from the start of the show, the band manages to draw and keep the audience’s attention. The songs they play are well-written and the vocals are nice to listen to. Every now and then a laptop on a small table next to the drummer adds some synths and beats, contributing to an edgier sound. There’s a good atmosphere at the stage, the boys display a certain self-confidence, which is nice to see. After over 50 minutes, the show comes to an end and leaves us curious about the album.
Queen’s Day @ Rock cafe De Engel
May 1st
Yesterday we had a show in the beautiful town of Den Helder. “Crossover Royale” is the sound name for the celebration of Queen’s Day as held in the King’s Street (!). No less than ten bands (national as well as foreign) were joining this celebration, we ourselves being one of them. We discovered that “Crossover” should be taken very literally, as the visitors had to cross between music cafe “De Bliksem” and rock cafe “De Engel”. After a two-and-a-half-hour trip from Tilburg to Den Helder, we were wholeheartedly welcomed by rocker / owner Mike. After he gave us a lot of vouchers for drinks, we went outside to enjoy our meals in the sun. More >
