Paradiso posterI can’t remember having such an exciting, wonderful Monday as we had yesterday; a memorable March 2nd, 2009!

It started all out really early.. In the morning, Omroep Brabant’s stars Eefje Wentelteefje and Ferry van de Zaande visited us in the studio for a TV item. Read (and watch!) all about it in the previous blog post.

In the afternoon we left, heading for world-famous historic venue Paradiso Amsterdam together with tour manager / driver Masco and today’s promotion girls Merle and Jelena. Masco’s van was fully loaded with backline, video cameras and all necessities to transform a stage into a real Daybroke-stage (like band members and appendages and a backdrop).

We had the honour to do the aftershow for the sold out main act; American garage rockers The Eagles of Death Metal, a band founded by Jesse Hughes and Josh Homme (QotSA). Mojo booking agent Jeps Salfischberger had arranged this gig for us, for which we would like to thank him again!

Around 6pm we arrived in Amsterdam, and we were welcomed by Paradiso’s FoH mixer Johan and monitor mixer Sjors, and they invited us to start preparing the stage. After hanging up the nice backdrop, light technician Joep started aiming all the spots and setting up the light mixer. In the meanwhile, we started putting the backline on the stage together with our own sound engineer Guido, while tour manager Masco was preparing all guitars and basses. A well oiled team came into being – a team which worked together in this composition for the first time by the way.

Paradiso opbouwOne hour and a half later we had a very nice wok dinner at Wagamama’s, two doors away from Paradiso.

After that, the countdown started, as we were changing clothes, biting our nails and drinking some beers, until the EODM show was coming to an end. The people from Paradiso told to start our show immediately after the final chords of the Eagles show, to lure as many people as possible to our show. So we did, and it worked: quite a lot of people came to watch us, and their response to our songs was pretty enthusiastic. The show went really smooth, and it felt like a successful first show in the Northern part of our little country (“above the rivers”, as we call it)!

Paradiso showOmroep Brabant has filmed a part of the show for their TV item, so some footage of this Daybroke aftershow can be expected soon 😉

Stay tuned for more…
